Designing Nationally Recognised

eLearning Pathways

Waste Management

Veolia Group provides practical waste management, energy management and water management solutions globally. In 2021, Veolia supplied 79 million people with drinking water and 61 million people with wastewater service, produced nearly 48 million megawatt hours of energy and treated 48 million metric tons of waste.

GOAL

Veolia ANZ's goal was to redesign the organisation's current training models by integrating accessible e-learning content into their programs. The aim was to create a more engaging and experiential way of learning for staff whilst ensuring the competency of trainees met the Australian Nationally Recognised Waste Driver and Waste Operations qualifications.

Given the nature of operations, self-paced online learning coupled with minimal face-to-face training and assessment would increase the effectiveness and accessibility without disrupting the business.

How We Helped

The Matchbox Creative Learning team developed and designed a blended work-based learning pathway for Nationally Recognised Waste Driver and Waste Operations qualifications under a traineeship model. The modules included both digital and offline assessments as well as a digital literacy program.

The complexities of integrating both online and offline training meant it was important for Matchbox to strategise the roll out of the new learning pathway and manage change across the organisation at scale.

As part of Veolia ANZ’s employee induction, Matchbox also developed 13 online SCORM packages for national roll out across Australia.

Results

Since launch, an estimated 4,000 personnel have participated in the online inductions and over 60 trainees have undergone the Waste traineeship designed by Matchbox.
